“If you are not making the progress that you would like to make and are capable of making, it is simply because your goals are not clearly defined.”
Paul J. Meyer
Imagine that a person pops into a taxi. The taxi driver asks the passenger for the desired destination and the passenger replies, “I do not know yet, please start driving and I will let you know as we go along.” After a couple of minutes, the driver asks the passenger for the destination, and the passenger once again replies, “I will let you know further on. Please continue driving.” This goes on repeatedly.
Although this story seems farfetched and unrealistic, that is what we are doing when we do not define clear goals for our life. The taxi ride is our life. If you do not give clear indications where you want to be in the future, you will spend the rest of your life going around in circles. Never doing any progress. Never reaching your destination (goals).
So, start today. Think about your long and short term goals. Clearly define them and outline them on a piece of paper, and start working towards those goals to achieve what you want in life. The next time somebody asks you, where do you want to be in 5, 10, 20 years time, you should be able to clearly and confidently say I will be (put your goal here).
