It is the dream of every student to get higher grades with much less effort. The reason why most of the students do not attain high grades is not because they do not study but it is that they do not study in the correct way. Studying is a skill and like every other skill, you need to train to master it.
For instance, trying to memorise chunks of information without actually trying to understand what you are learning is not a good way to study. In this blog post, I am going to outline some tips and tricks that you should adopt while studying. I used these tricks while I was at the University and they really work. I still use them today to learn new stuff at work. ![]()
Link Information
Remembering isolated pieces of information is very difficult. It is a very important technique that while you study, you link information together. By linking pieces of information together, it will be easier for you to remember concepts. In addition, by knowing the relation between concepts, it will be easy for you to infer a forgotten concept from other related concepts.
Associate and Assimilate
Association and assimilation is a technique worth learning. It is very useful to be able to associate concepts together in such a way that you can immediately infer the similarities and differences between two concepts. When you associate information, you compress that information and thus you will be able to remember more information.
Present what you have learned to others
Explaining a topic that you have studied to someone else is a very good way to study and confirm that you have actually learned the stuff. Quite often, you think that you have understood a topic very well but as soon as you try to explain it to someone else, you start stammering and get doubts. The best audience to explain to are people that do not have a clue about the topic that you have studied. That way you cannot use jargon but you will have to explain everything in simple terms. This type of audience will pose basic questions to you and hence they will test your knowledge of basic core concepts. If the persons to whom you gave the topic presentation do not understand what you have just said, then it is better that you go back and study again, because this means you have not mastered the topic and cannot pass on what you have learned.

I wish I could study less, I just forget stuff then and never both to do the work.
Good Article
James.
James,
Studying is a technique that you have to acquire. It is the same as learning how to cook
The above article describes which techniques worked for me when I was a student. (couple of months ago)
