In my last blog post I outlined what you need to do to have a healthy body. In this post I will outline what you need to do to have a healthy mind. First of all, what is a healthy mind?
That is a complex question, and since I am not a neuroscientist, psychologist, psychiatrist or some other ist, I can only say what benefits a healthy mind gives to an individual.
A healthy mind allows a person to:

It is the dream of every student to get higher grades with much less effort. The reason why most of the students do not attain high grades is not because they do not study but it is that they do not study in the correct way. Studying is a skill and like every other skill, you need to train to master it.

So you want to live a long healthy life and make your life fruitful?
To do this, you first need to get the basics down so that you have a solid foundation on which to build your life.
The lowest layer of that foundation and the one which is most important is your health, both physical and mental. The title to this post is in Latin and it was written by a Roman poet by the name of Juvenal a long time ago. Does this fact make this piece of wisdom irrelevant today? On the contrary, it goes to show how wise the Roman civilization was.
So let’s get started. What do you need to do to have a healthy mind in a healthy body?

I would like to start this post by quoting from my earlier post:
“What is a task list? The short answer to this question is: a list of things that you need to do to accomplish something.“
If you would like to read about what a task list is, please refer to my previous blog post: What is a task list?.
There are several reasons why a to-do list makes you more productive. In this blog post I am only going to focus on the most important benefit that you get from a to-do list.

“The television, that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little.”
-Ray Bradbury
How many hours a day do you spend watching television? How many times did you watch yet another reality TV show or a re-run of some drama series?

The short answer to this question is: a list of things that you need to do to accomplish something. A task list is also known as a to do list or to-do list.
A to-do list enables you to outline and organise the tasks that you need to do to complete a project or reach a goal. The information stored in a to-do list varies from person to person, depending on taste and requirements, but will normally include the following.

“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
-H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
How many times have you said I don’t have enough time? Be honest to yourself. How often have you failed to complete a task, meet a deadline, and keep a promise? Simple promises such as to meet a person, or take out your children for a family day out. Although these promises are simple they are of utmost importance.

“Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.” Ovid Roman poet
Resting can sometimes be more productive than working. Everybody knows that resting is important but most of us sometimes try to do without it.
