Make exercise part of your daily routine

Many experts have shown through various studies that including exercise as part of your daily routine is beneficial for your health.

Exercising daily will make you more fit, strong, and happy. It will also boost your immune system to fight off viruses and other undesirables. Even when you get sick your body will be robust enough to get back in shape and heal more quickly. Exercise will make your body more resilient.

Furthermore, you will avoid various diseases in the first place. For example, by performing a daily cardiovascular routine you will strengthen your heart and lungs, thus drastically reducing your risks of heart disease, a major cause of death all over the world.

With all the above advantages it really is hard to believe lots of people still do not manage to find time to exercise daily. Your body is the best investment you could ever make, so why not invest a few minutes daily to keep in shape.

First of all you only have one body, so it makes sense to take care of it well.
Secondly, you body will pay you back in gold for the mere 30 minutes per day you invest in it.
Finally, return on investment is guaranteed. Therefore it is a no brainer. Invest in your body and reap the benefits.

With all of the above in mind, here are some tips to motivate you and help you make exercise part of your daily routine.

  • You do not need to invest a lot of time. 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise is enough to see results and enjoy better health. Do this daily except for Sunday. You deserve a day off. :) If you cannot manage to find at least 30 minutes a day to exercise, you need to learn better time management. :)
  • Do your cardiovascular exercise, such as jogging, brisk walking, and swimming, first thing in the morning. This will boost your energy levels. Going through the day’s work will be easy. Doing exercise in the morning on an empty stomach will help you burn your fat reserves for energy. You will enjoy your breakfast immensely after the exercise session. Additionally, this will make it impossible for you to skip exercising, since you will do it first thing in the morning before anything else can interfere.
  • Replace part of the time you spend watching TV and on your computer with exercise.
  • Exercising must be fun. If you enjoy jogging, then jog. If you like swimming, do so. If you are not fond of any sports, do something else which makes you happy and involves physical activity. Go for a walk in the park, walk your dog, do some gardening, attend dance classes. Whatever gets you moving.
  • Join a gym or sports club, ideally with a friend of yours. Having a friend to join a gym or sports club is not necessary, but it will help you motivate yourself and stick to the commitment. Knowing that your friend is waiting for you at the gym while you are still lazily watching TV will give you a good enough reason to sprint to the gym. You and your friend will be the driving force for each other.
  • When possible walk instead of riding the bus, the tube, or car.
  • Always take the stairs instead of the lift or escalators.
  • If you catch a bus or tube, get off a few blocks early and walk the rest of the way.
  • During the lunch break at work go for a walk.
  • On a piece of paper, write down the date and time when you did your last exercise routine. This will serve as a commitment, and the more exercise you do the more entries you will see written on paper. This will further motivate you to continue exercising.
  • As explained in various other posts, the easiest way to start a habit is to train your mind to associate a certain time with a particular activity. Thus it is best if you always perform exercises at the same time.
  • Vary your exercise routine; let’s say every week or so, so as to keep it interesting. This will help you stick to it and motivate yourself. Varying the exercises you do is also beneficial for your health since our body easily adapts to an exercise. By varying your exercises you will continue to challenge your body and keep seeing results.
  • Exercising is a good stress relief. There is nothing better after a hard day’s work then going jogging for 30 minutes. You will feel exhausted but after taking a shower, you will feel great and relaxed.
  • As with all things in life it is not how many times you fail to exercise that matters, but the fact that you start exercising once more. Every one of us has experienced this. Do not let this de-motivate you or feel sad or guilty. It is never too late. Start exercising again.
  • Talk to other people about your exercising habits. This will serve as a motivator since you have now committed yourself with others that you are exercising. You might also discover that some of your friends also do exercise but never talked about it. Talking to other people is positive since you are promoting healthy living and can convince other people to live a healthier life.

5 Comments to “Make exercise part of your daily routine”

  1. About a month ago I started going to the GYM in morning. I am now waking up 2hours more early that I used to be. But i can confirm that what said int this article its true. You will feel better during the day even though you have woke up earlier. There must be a reason. The reason is cardio

  2. I definitely agree with the comment above, exercising in the morning is the way to go. Not only do you just feel better throughout the day, but you also feel like you’ve accomplished something before you even get to work. It’s better and cheaper than coffee as well.

  3. Drink water whenever you’re thirsty, it will reduce your desire to eat and fill you up and it contains no calories so it won’t hurt you in the same way that caffinated or sugary beverages will.

  4. Exercise is always good! I try to do excersices every day! But as I have very little spear time and don’t have an opportunity to go to a gym, I try to walk more. I enjoy walking and it doesn’t take many efforts. I try to walk an hour or two a day and on weekends I can walk for hours. And it works. I lost two pounds for the last two months.

  5. This is a helpful website for the people losing weight.
